YOUTH ACTIVITIES

The Elks Grand Lodge Statutes state: Section 13.170, "The Youth Activities Committee shall prepare, supervise and conduct programs for the youth of the community."

The Redwood City Elks Lodge supports the youth of our city in a variety of ways.  Our Lodge has sponsored many little league teams in all three city leagues over the last thirteen years.  We are currently in our eleventh consecutive year of sponsorship of the "Elks" team in the Highlanders Little League.

We are also in our ninth year of continuous support for the Redwood City P.A.L. and Sheriff's S.A.L. programs.

In the past two years, we have also sponsored a team in the Redwood City Girls Softball League, supported Cub Scout Pack #146 with a stipend and awarded scholarship funds to help deserving girls in the Juventus Sport Club "Firebrands" soceer team.

We have a strong partnership with both Cub Scout Pack #991 and Boy Scout Troop #991.  Both groups are involved as volunteers helping us as we host the quarterly Veterans Bar-B-Qs at the Lodge.

For the last four years, we have offered a scholarship to a Sequoia High School and a Woodside High School art student to help them pursue their dreams of using their art skills after graduation.

This year is our first to be involved with the Lodge dictionary giveaway program.  English-Spanish dictionaries will be distributed where they are needed most in the third grade classes in our local elementary schools.

There never seems to be a problem finding ways to help the youth of our community.
