NATIONAL VETERAN SERVICES

At our August Steak Night, the Butcher Blocks served a Veteran, Paul Smith, who became the 10,000th Vet to be served a steak dinner from our Bar-B-Q grill.  It was a night for the whole Lodge to swell with pride, but particularly Bob Mezzetta (National Veterans Service and Steak Night Chairman) and his fellow Butcher Blocks who have been the "can do" work horses who faithfully show up early and work late, year after year, to show our Veterans that "Elks Care, Elks Share".

The Lodge was crowded with members and well wishers including a reporter/photographer from the San Mateo Daily Journal and Dick Gay (DDGER).  A brief ceremony led by ER (and Butcher Blocker) Henry Artea conveyed the universal feeling of good will that permeated the room. There were many smiling faces and rounds of applause as the principles, Cub Scouts and our honored Vets were introduced.
